چکیده

[1] The quantum yield for O(D) production in the photolysis of ozone in the ultraviolet region as a function of wavelength and temperature is a key input for modeling calculations in the atmospheric chemistry. To provide the modeling community with the best possible information, the available data are critically evaluated, and the best possible recommendations for the quantum yields are presented. Since the authors of this paper are the principal investigators of the groups which have provided most of the recent experimental data for the O(D) quantum yields, the basic assumptions made by each group, the input parameters used in obtaining the quantum yields, and possible sources of systematic errors are well examined. The fitting expression of the O(D) yield as a function of photolysis wavelength l and temperature T is presented in the ranges of 306 nm l 328 nm and 200 K T 300 K. The recommendation values of the O(D) quantum yield for 290 nm l 306 nm and 328 nm l 350 nm are also presented. The formation mechanisms of O(D) in the photolysis of ozone which result in the wavelength and temperature dependence of the O(D) yields are interpreted.

Sensitivity studies of the recent new data on O(1D) quantum yields in O3 Hartley band photolysis in the stratosphere

The production yields of excited oxygen O(1D) atoms from the near ultraviolet O3 photolysis are essential quantities for atmospheric chemistry calculations because of its importance as major sources of hydroxyl (OH) radicals and nitric oxide (NO). Recently, new O(1D) quantum yields from O3 photolysis between 230 and 305 nm in the Hartley band region were reported, which are almost independent o...

Ultraviolet Radiation in the Arctic: The Impact of Potential Ozone Depletions and Cloud Effects

An atmospheric radiation model is used to study the combined effects of ozone depletions/redistributions and particulate clouds on atmospheric heating/photolysis rates and ultraviolet radiation reaching the biosphere. Four types of particulate clouds prevalent in the summertime Arctic are considered: stratospheric aerosols, tropospheric aerosols (Arctic haze), cirrus clouds, and stratus clouds....

Relative 0 ( 1 D ) Quantum Yields in the near U V Photolysis of Ozone at 298

Mixtures of 0 3 with excess N 2 0 were photolysed in the wavelength region 290 — 335 nm using monochromatic light with a band width of 4 nm. The resulting primary product atomic singlet oxygen, 0 ( 1 D ) , in reacting with N 2 0 produces in part NO which subsequently reacts with 0 3 giving rise to a weak infrared chemiluminescence. The emission was monitored with a cooled photomultiplier. The e...

Evaluation of rainwater harvesting systems performance in runoff production and in grape yields

Low rainfall and its poor distribution in the West Azerbaijan province have hampered agricultural production in dry-land. One of the important solutions in this regard is converting rainfall into runoff. In this study, a field experiment in Khoshalan village of Urmia on grapes in rainfed conditions with supplementary irrigation and rainwater harvesting was carried out in a split-plot design bas...

Extraordinary isotopic fractionation in ozone photolysis

[1] Analysis of experimental ozone absorption spectra reveals that ultraviolet photolysis within the structured Huggins band yields extraordinary wavelength-dependent isotopic fractionation, oscillating between complete enrichment and complete depletion for changes of less than 2 nm in the excitation wavelength. Visible photolysis yields wavelength-dependent fractionation that varies from 300% ...
